Copenhagen

Image
Our flight home from Athens had an overnight layover in Copenhagen so we decided to stay for 2 nights. It is a beautiful clean city. We are staying in Nyhavn with a big pedestrian area near the canal.  We took a hop on hop off bus. We stopped to see the famous statue The Little Mermaid. There are so many bikers! They say 35,000 people bike to work every day.  They are parked all over the city! We got to see the Queen’s changing of the guard.  The architecture in the city is very nice.  We took a canal boat ride that was very nice. It’s a chilly 48 today and it’s amazing how many people are outside biking, boating, and sitting in outdoor cafes.

Santorini

Santorini has breathtaking views. We took a ferry from Naxos and are staying in beautiful suites overlooking the caldera.  The view from our balcony is amazing. People take donkey rides up 700 steps from the port below us.  Our balconies have a hot tub.  Breakfast view. We took a bus to Oia a pretty village at the top of the island.  Today we hiked to the villages Firostefani and Imerovigli. It was so windy but thankfully the buildings and walls shield most of the wind.

Naxos Greece

We took a small plane to the island of Naxos. We are staying in cute apartments in Hora a small town on the water. Our apartment has a huge rooftop deck with sun all day.  Our rooftop deck. Darren and Stacy are just below us with a little courtyard.  We rented a car and drove to the beaches and then we went to a mountain village for delicious food. After the beach we drove to Melanes a mountain village and ate delicious food. We’ve had Greek Salad every day. The feta cheese is so good! At night we walked through the village to an old castle built into the town and being repaired.  At night we hiked to sunset at the Temple of Apollo.  Today we tried to hike but the trail was not maintained and we didn’t end up finding the hike. So we drove to several villages on the island.
